RH PCC Curriculum

The RH PCC provides in-depth training on a wide variety of topics that are needed to be a successful coach. The modules include written exams as well as interactive mock coaching sessions with our staff.

Module 1: Intro to Relationship Coaching

  1. What is Relationship Coaching? Define relationship coaching as an industry and differentiate practices that do not qualify as coaching.

  2. Ethical Guidelines and Professional Standards What ethics and standards guide professional relationship coaching.

  3. Establishing the Coaching Agreement Coaching Agreements and how they protect both coaches and clients.

  4. Planning and Goal Setting Planning and goal setting to keep clients engaged in their coaching goal and learn how to best guide clients from start to finish.

  5. Designing Actions/Actionable Advice Designing actions/actionable steps that will result in the most effective client progress.

  6. Assigning Homework (Theory) Assigning homework to support client growth.

  7. Managing Progress and Accountability Consider the client's motivations and their resistance to change while building a customized plan for each unique client situation.

  8. Creating a Trusting Coaching-Client Relationship Understand what a trusting coach-client relationship entails and learn methods to encourage trust between yourself and your clients.

  9. Remaining Objective Why it is important to stay objective in coaching, how to achieve objectivity, and how humans build and interpret their reality.

  10. Bottom Lining Guide clients to effectively express and understand the bottom-line of what they want to gain through coaching.

  11. Best Interest Goals Identify which goals are in a client’s best interest and adopt techniques to guide them towards understanding and achievement.

Module 2: Primary Coaching Skills

  1. Active Listening Different styles of listening and how each can benefit clients.

  2. Building Rapport Understand what rapport building is, the three components of rapport building, and the limits of rapport.

  3. Empathy Foundations of empathy and how to apply these skills with clients successfully.

  4. Validation Understand validation and how to effectively validate clients.

  5. Balanced Detachment Identify and avoid imbalances of detachment within coaching.

  6. Effective Communication Key components of effective communication within sessions and how you can use effective communication methods to assist your clients.

  7. Appreciative Inquiry Explore the Appreciative Inquiry process and how to apply the skill during coaching.

  8. Non-Judgmental Coaching What a non-judgmental coaching environment means and how to create it.

  9. Coaching with Compassion How to coach with compassion and make the client feel connected and understood.

  10. Asking Potent Questions When and how to ask potent questions about client situations that spark a deeper understanding of them and their situation.

  11. Creating and Raising Awareness Integrate and evaluate multiple sources of information to help clients gain awareness.

Module 3: Advanced Coaching Skills

  1. Coaching Presence Main aspects of coaching presence and techniques for how to convey presence in sessions with clients.

  2. Understanding Emotions How emotions work and how they manifest themselves, strategies to implement with clients to help them understand and manage their own emotions

  3. Frame Control Provide an appropriate frame for a variety of client situations.

  4. Coaching Fragile Egos Effective coaching techniques to clients with fragile or ego-based thinking.

  5. Creating a Coaching Plan Create an outline of an 8 week coaching plan for clients.

  6. Wheel of Life A powerful goal-setting tool that we can use with our clients in order to help them visualize and understand their areas of improvement.

  7. Understanding People Steps you can take to understand and empathize with people.

  8. Handling Rude Clients Basic tips on how to work with rude or aggressive clients.

  9. Coaching 101 How to manage client sessions in chat, by phone, or through video.

Module 4: Relationship Coaching Concepts

  1. Core Issues & Core Needs Coaching practices to remove, heal and modify core issues affecting clients.

  2. Identifying Relationship Values General life and relationship values, hierarchy within values and how to overcome value conflicts within relationships.

  3. Manifesting in Relationships Concepts and techniques of manifesting in relationships to equip clients in creating more positive relationship experiences.

  4. The 5:1 Ratio Principle Gain an overview of the principle, negative and positive interactions, and strategies to increase positive interactions.

  5. Coaching Revealed Emotions Revealed Emotions and how they present in sessions plus how to adjust your coaching depending on which emotions are revealed.

  6. Love Languages Identify the 5 love languages and how they manifest in healthy relationships.

  7. Attachment Styles Tools to address attachment styles with clients and promote secure attachment.

  8. Emotional Intelligence Emotional intelligence and effective emotional management to help clients reach their relationship goals.

  9. Relationship Anxiety Relationship anxiety and how to better connect with and help clients who have it.

Module 5: Relationship Issues

  1. Common Relationship Issues Common issues, clues to identify them, and approaches for coaching.

  2. Infidelity Understand a client’s mindset when they have cheated or been cheated on and how to customize coaching for these clients.

  3. Rebuilding Trust How to guide clients to trust again after trust has been damaged or broken in their relationship.

  4. Mental Conditions Coaching Some of the most common mental conditions that may impact coaching and some tips for guiding sessions with these clients.

  5. Working with Anxious Clients Methods to improve coaching for clients dealing with anxiety.

  6. Codependent Relationships What codependency is, various core symptoms that indicate codependency. and steps to raise client awareness.

Module 6: Breakup Issues

  1. Breakup Reasons The common reasons for why people break up in relationships.

  2. Getting Back With An Ex Relationship Hero’s 7-step guide to get clients reconnected with their ex.

  3. The No Contact Rule What, Why, and How of the No Contact rule and how to guide clients through the No contact plan.

  4. Message of Connection What a message of connection is and how to write a compelling MOC.

  5. Message of Expression Defines a message of expression and when to use one with your clients.

  6. Reengagement Message The anatomy of a strong re-engagement message after a no contact period.

  7. Moving On After A Breakup Compassionately determine and suggest when moving on may be the right choice for a client and facilitate the moving on process respectfully.

Module 7: Dating Issues

  1. Dating Guide for Straight Men Assess, isolate, and solve dating issues for straight male clients.

  2. Dating Guide for Straight Women Assess, identify, and address dating issues for straight female clients.

  3. LGBTQ+ Diversity in Dating Insight on important topics relating to dating for LGBTQ+ clients.

Module 8: Relationship Models

  2. Coping Strategies How coping strategies present themselves in action and how to respond to each coping strategy.

  3. Relationship Profiler Framework Techniques for attributing clients with one or more of the 10 relationship models.
